Our 35th Year
WELCOME TO THE MRPA
(Milwaukee Retired Police Association)
Have you ever said to a friend “I don’t miss the job very much, but I sure do miss the people I worked with? The Milwaukee Retired Police Association (MRPA) was established in 1975 with exactly that thought in mind. With literally thousands of MPD retirements in the past several decades, the MRPA was created to fill the void left when we turned in our badge and returned to civilian life. Remember those years on the job when we were young and fancy free, full of energy, looking for the excitement of good sound police work and having a good time along the way? Remember walking Fond du Lac Ave., North Ave., or 3rd Street line beats making “tavern checks”, catching a couple of burglaries in progress, enjoying a pizza & adult beverage in the park, car jobs, plant jobs, George Webb’s, collecting Christmas bottles, the excitement of a long high speed chase, Menzel’s Towing, Cuban Heals, Curley’s, the Satin Doll, Rickey’s, the Tracks, the Rock, Dirty Helen’s, the Eagle’s Club, and your favorite “strawbox”?
It really brings back wonderful memories throughout such a huge chunk of our lives. We can’t bring those days back, but we sure can share the memories by joining our ole’ buddies at one of our monthly “get togethers” where we’re averaging 100+ members each month. You will find great musical entertainment, comedians, illusionists, bingo, cards, guest speakers discussing important health & pension issues, good food and adult beverages. In addition, we have two casino bus trips each year, the July Police Picnic, an August MRPA golf outing, and a fantastic December Christmas Dinner/Dance. If you can’t make these events, this website and our monthly Call Box News newsletter will keep you in touch with hundreds of your friends scattered all over the USA. Our website is updated regularly by the webmaster with new photos, upcoming events and important information concerning health & pension benefits that affect us all.
Come join us in 2010 as the MRPA celebrates its 35th anniversary. Our membership has climbed to over 900 of your ole’ friends and you can be a part of the MRPA, staying in touch with all of them. If you are not a member, download a membership application from the home page and mail it to the P.O. Box address listed. All Milwaukee Police Personnel including clerks etc., with 25 years on the job, retired or not, can join the MRPA. Member’s donations will help fund this website, the Call Box News, and all of our events throughout the year. If you like, check out our member’s page and join the list of over 200 e-mail addresses.
If those memories of the “good ole’ days” are still burning in your heart, if you would like to know what all your ole’ buddies are doing now, if you are looking for a few fun & informative get togethers, then the MRPA is an organization made for you.
We are dedicated to “Looking back, moving forward, keeping in touch, and most importantly- caring for each other!
